Host families needed to give international students taste of American culture

Are you interested in connecting with an international student or scholar? Then EAT! might be the program for you.

International Student and Scholar Services is planning its next Experience American Tastes (EAT!) event for Feb. 21.

The EAT! program provides international students and scholars with a chance to enjoy American food and culture with a local family. American members of the Vanderbilt community volunteer to host a dinner and invite the international students and scholars to join them and their families for an evening.

ISSS matches host families with students and scholars one to two weeks before the scheduled dinner. The hosts then contact the international participants a few days before the date to notify them of the time and to arrange transportation and other details. Students and scholars attend in groups of two to four.

This month, there are several interested students and scholars but only a small handful of hosts. To participate as a host family, sign up here.

If you are interested in serving as a host family but cannot participate this month, the next EAT! event is March 27.
