Vanderbilt University may nominate one candidate for the Rita Allen Foundation Scholars Award Program for 2016. This award provides $550,000 over five years for young investigators involved in research for the cure and treatment of diseases in the fields of cancer, immunology and neuroscience. The foundation seeks candidates of extraordinary promise with recent appointments at the faculty level and projects with above-average risk that break new ground and challenge the status quo.
Anyone interested in being considered as Vanderbilt’s nominee must submit the following (in PDF format) to LSO@vanderbilt.edu by 5 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2015.
- A brief (two-page maximum) research plan including summary budget;
- A brief statement of support from the department chair/center director ; and
- A brief CV or NIH Biosketch.
Submissions should reference the program name in the subject line of the email. All applicants should verify their eligibility in advance through the foundation website.
Once received, all proposals will be forwarded to an internal review committee that will choose the final nominee.
- Once a nominee is selected, an institutional nominating official will partner with the nominee to submit an online Letter of Intent (LOI) by the Dec. 11, 2015, deadline.
- Once LOIs are approved by the foundation, full proposals are due Jan. 22, 2016.
