Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos would like to remind all faculty that the deadline to submit comments on proposed revisions to the Vanderbilt Faculty Manual is this Friday, Sept. 4, at 5 p.m.
The Faculty Manual is being revised by the Faculty Senate to reflect changes to some titles and processes related to the pending transition of the university and Vanderbilt University Medical Center into separate legal and financial entities. There will continue to be one Faculty Manual that governs every faculty member’s relationship with Vanderbilt, regardless of whether faculty are employed by Vanderbilt University and/or VUMC.
“I’d like to urge faculty to read and consider these proposed revisions to the Faculty Manual as we move forward with our institutional restructuring,” Zeppos said. “Your engagement will play a vital role as we move toward finalizing the proposed revisions and prepare for a discussion by the full Faculty Senate. We need the insightful thoughts of our faculty throughout this process.”
The proposed revisions are available for review on the Senate Portal of the Faculty Senate website. Faculty will be prompted to enter their VUNetID and ePassword to enter the portal. The manual with revisions noted is titled “PROPOSED REVISIONS TO FACULTY MANUAL.pdf.”
To provide comments, access the survey titled “FACULTY MANUAL COMMENTS.” All comments are anonymous.
The Faculty Senate will take up the proposed revisions for discussion and vote in its meetings on Oct. 8 and Nov. 5. Motions regarding these and other proposed revisions will be announced and made available in advance of the meetings. Both meetings are scheduled from 4:10 to 5:30 p.m. in Frist Hall, Room 140, and are open to all faculty.
For questions, please contact Faculty Senate Chair Richard Willis or other members of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee.
