Two Vanderbilt University student academic support services have moved to a new location. The Writing Studio and Tutoring Services (formerly A&S Tutoring) have relocated from Alumni Hall to 1801 Edgehill Ave., Suite 112, next to the Curb Center at the intersection of Edgehill Avenue and 18th Avenue South. With the relocation of both services to the same space, they will be adjacent to the Health Professions Advisory Office, the Office of Honor Scholarships and the Ingram Scholarship Program Office.

The relocation of the Writing Studio and Tutoring Services was precipitated by the separation of Vanderbilt University Medical Center from Vanderbilt University and the resulting reallocations of space across campus.

“[rquote]The repositioning of Tutoring Services and the Writing Studio next to the Health Professions Advisory Office, Curb Center and the Office of Honor Scholarships provides the opportunity for collaboration across the student support networks,”[/rquote] Cynthia Cyrus, vice provost for learning and residential affairs, said.

“It is our hope that the value the Writing Studio and Tutoring provide for students will encourage them to visit the new space and help it become a hub for academic support and enrichment,” added Catesby Yant, director of Tutoring Services.

At 1801 Edgehill, the Writing Studio and Tutoring Services will continue to offer robust student academic support. Tutoring Services offers appointment-based tutoring in the biological sciences, chemistry, economics, mathematics, neuroscience, physics, French and Spanish.

“In its new location, the Writing Studio will continue to serve all of Vanderbilt’s writers who wish to discuss their writing projects and processes with thoughtful, well-trained interlocutors,” Gary Jaeger, director of the Writing Studio, said.

To facilitate student transportation in the evenings to and from 1801 Edgehill, Vandy Vans has added a stop directly in front of the building. Vandy Vans operates from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the fall and spring semesters.

Visitors may park in metered spaces along 18th Avenue South. Zone 1 permit holders may park in lots 80, 82 and 122 located across Edgehill Avenue from 1801 Edgehill. Lots 78A and 79 are available behind the Writing Studio’s building, between it and The Commons Center, and Lot 77 is located just across 18th Avenue South.

Zone 2 permit holders may park on levels 4 and 5 of the Wesley Place Garage, which is three blocks away on Scarritt Place. University zoned permit holders may cross park in any zoned lot after 2:30 p.m. until 7 a.m. on weekdays, and all day on weekends.

Students with university resident-student (F, G and J) and student reserved garage (TG, KG and WP) permits may cross park in zoned lots after 4 p.m. until 7 a.m. on weekdays, and all day on weekends.

The hours for both the Writing Studio and Tutoring Services will remain the same. The Writing Studio is open Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tutoring Services is open Monday through Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
