Saturday Academy at Vanderbilt for the Young (Vanderbilt University)

Do you have a gifted student in grades K-6 who is looking for accelerated coursework? If so, consider enrolling them in Saturday Academy at Vanderbilt for the Young (SAVY).

SAVY at a glance

Who?

Gifted students in grades K-6 who typically test at the 95th percentile or above on either verbal or nonverbal sections of academic achievement or ability tests. (See “Eligibility” section below for more information on student qualifications.)

What?

Accelerated and in-depth weekend courses offered for the exceptionally talented and motivated learner. Students choose one course for the entire session. Class size is limited to approximately 12 students for grades K-2, and approximately 15 students for grades 3-6. Learn more about our fall and spring courses. Students may register for one or both sessions.

When?

Fall and spring sessions are held six Saturday mornings in a row, from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

  • Fall SAVY: Sept. 26–Oct. 31, 2015
  • Spring SAVY: Jan. 23–Feb. 27, 2016

Where?

Peabody College campus at Vanderbilt University

Eligibility

We accept many standardized achievement or ability tests. These include but are not limited to: CogAT, RIAS, TCAP, ITBS, ERB, Stanford Achievement Test, OLSAT, Woodcock-Johnson and WISC-IV. Returning SAVY students do not need to resubmit test scores. Learn more about eligibility.

Fees and Tuition

Fall or Spring SAVY: $425. A $35 nonrefundable application fee should be paid at the time of application. A tuition statement will be sent once your child is admitted to the program. Tuition for fall 2015 is due Sept.11, 2015, and tuition for spring 2016 is due Dec. 11, 2015.

Vanderbilt’s Programs for Talented Youth is committed to making programs available to academically gifted students regardless of a family’s ability to pay the full tuition. Need-based financial aid is available based on income.
