Vanderbilt employees celebrated with co-workers while enjoying frozen treats at Vandy Chills on Aug. 7. The event was held at multiple locations on and off campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Aug. 8.

Despite a foggy start to the day, employees came out in droves to the summer Employee Celebration event, where more than 10,000 tasty treats were distributed.

Employees gathered at Eskind Biomedical Library, Medical Center Plaza, Library Lawn, Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks and “pop-up” stands at 3401 West End, Crystal Terrace, 2525 West End, Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital, Blair School of Music, Peabody’s Magnolia Lawn, Baker Building and Green Hills Office Building. Managers at other off-site locations were encouraged to “chill” with their employees as well.

A delicious variety of frozen desserts was available, from the favorite Nutty Buddy to vanilla and strawberry ice cream cups with old-fashioned wooden spoons. Many employees were eager to try the orange sherbet pop-up, which they hadn’t tasted since childhood.

This year’s event offered the opportunity to pose for a picture in a cut-out twin pop, fudge bar or creamsicle.
