Gayla Harvey has been named senior vice president of Revenue Cycle Services and Payer Strategy for Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Harvey joins VUMC from Texas Health Resources in Arlington, where she was senior vice president and chief revenue cycle officer. She assumes her new responsibilities Aug. 3.
Harvey will orchestrate all phases of the VUMC integrated revenue cycle including working closely with its affiliate network on revenue cycle services.
She will also guide VUMC contracting strategy, working to develop innovative value-based payer partnership options. In this role, Harvey will report to Cecelia Moore, associate vice chancellor for Finance for VUMC.
“Gayla’s deep experience with traditional, accountable care and value-based care models coupled with her extensive knowledge of the revenue cycle will help to continue to propel VUMC as a leader in innovative strategies throughout the Southeastern United States,” Moore said.
Harvey’s career consists of a diverse background in health care finance management with both providers and national payers. In her most recent role, Harvey managed both internal and joint venture revenue cycle operations, traditional and population health-based contracting, revenue analysis and ACO reporting and financial overshight of five acute care hospitals. She oversaw centralization of the system’s clinical documentation improvement units. Harvey also led a successful revenue cycle system implementation in her tenure at UC Health. She has been active in the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) holding roles, including managed care forum chair, chapter president and regional executive.
Harvey received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Eastern Kentucky University.
