Several departments will update contacts beginning July 1

As Vanderbilt continues to prepare for the legal and financial separation of the university and future independent Vanderbilt University Medical Center, some departments will participate in a “dress rehearsal” for the future separation beginning July 1.

(Vanderbilt University)

As Vanderbilt continues to prepare for the legal and financial separation of the university and future independent Vanderbilt University Medical Center, some departments will participate in a “dress rehearsal” for the future separation. To the extent possible, these departments are starting to operate now as they will after the transition is completed.

For example, there will be two human resource departments in the future, and employees in HR will start to operate in their future roles (either serving the university or future Medical Center) although they all will remain Vanderbilt employees until the legal separation. For those employees in the departments participating in the dress rehearsal, this could mean you will have new contacts, email addresses or phone numbers to use for questions or requests or new processes to follow.

Each department has posted a list of its operational changes on the organization transition website. You will need to enter your VUnetID and password to access the site. Pages are organized to include updates impacting all employees as well as those impacting managers or leaders.

Departments with updates starting July 1 include:

  • Human Resources
  • Finance
  • Procurement
  • Business Services
  • Plant Operations
  • Real Estate

Review these operational changes and refer to them during the dress rehearsal so that your requests and questions can be handled in a timely manner. The goal of this period is to identify additional issues that need to be addressed prior to our legal separation into two entities.

There is also information on the future Medical Center process for dependent and employee/spouse/partner tuition.

The transition website also includes links to news and general FAQs. If you have a question you don’t see listed, ask your manager or send it to transitionfaqs@vanderbilt.edu.
