Faculty teaching, research award winners announced

The Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Spring Faculty Meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, in 208 Light Hall.


The Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Spring Faculty Meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, in 208 Light Hall.

Following a presentation to faculty by Jeff Balser, M.D., Ph.D., vice chancellor for Health Affairs and dean of the School of Medicine, the 2015 Faculty Awards for Excellence in Teaching and Outstanding Contributions to Research will be presented.

Recipients of this year’s teaching awards are Joey V. Barnett, Ph.D., professor of Pharmacology; William B. Cutrer, M.D., M.Ed., assistant professor of Pediatrics; Kathryn M. Edwards, M.D., the Sarah H. Sell and Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Pediatrics; and E. Wesley Ely, M.D., MPH, professor of Medicine.

Research award recipients are Richard M. Caprioli, Ph.D., Stanford Moore Professor of Biochemistry; D. Borden Lacy, Ph.D., associate professor of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology; Ethan Lee, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of Cell and Developmental Biology; Bradley Malin, Ph.D., associate professor of Biomedical Informatics; and Wayne A. Ray, Ph.D., M.S., professor of Health Policy.
