POSTPONED – Vandy Cooks: Heart Healthy on a Budget

Update: The March 6 Vandy Cooks event has been postponed due to inclement weather and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Original story: The Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center and Health Plus will present “Vandy Cooks: Heart Healthy on a Budgetfeaturing Sarah Kraynak, a registered dietitian and nutrition manager at Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, on Friday, March 6. The event is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. in the VRWC Demonstration Kitchen.

Join Kraynak as she prepares budget-friendly, heart-healthy, simple and delicious recipes. Attendees are invited to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Second Harvest.

Kraynak graduated from Auburn University with a degree in psychology and later completed her dietetic internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her experience working with inner city youth during AmeriCorps inspired her to combine her passions of community and nutrition. Today, she works with children, youth and adults who struggle with food insecurity. She works closely with Second Harvest agencies and clients doing nutrition education, recipe demonstrations, and is implementing a grocery store tour program this summer.

The Vandy Cooks demonstrations are offered monthly in the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Demonstration Kitchen to celebrate healthy eating at Vanderbilt. The Demonstration Kitchen is located on the first floor of the VRWC.
