The Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center and Health Plus will present “Heart Healthy with VUMC Executive Chef George Moran” on Friday, Feb. 27, from noon to 1 p.m. at the VRWC Demonstration Kitchen.

February is American Heart Month. Join Moran as he utilizes fresh ingredients for a lower-fat diet. Creations will include White Bean Broccoli Soup, Chicken and Black Bean Quesadilla with Yogurt, and Kale with Red Onion Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Samples of these dishes and take-home recipes will be available.

Moran has more than 20 years of culinary experience and has been an executive chef for 18 years. Growing up in the Northeast, he was influenced by the Irish and Italian cuisines that surrounded him. Moran is as passionate about serving people as he is about serving high-quality foods. He is a winner of the Heroes of Everyday Life Award for his work fighting hunger in the community and has recently spent time doing missionary work in Southeast Asia.

Vandy Cooks demonstrations are offered monthly at the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Demonstration Kitchen to celebrate healthy eating at Vanderbilt. The kitchen is located on the first floor of the VRWC.
