Vanderbilt’s Office of Honor Scholarships was the host for a reception and informational session about the Marshall Scholarship featuring British Consul General Jeremy Pilmore-Bedford and Executive Officer Mandy Smith of the British Consulate General in Atlanta on Feb. 25. The event, held at the John Seigenthaler Center, was attended by students and representatives from Vanderbilt as well as Austin Peay State University, Belmont University, Lipscomb University, Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.
Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a graduate degree in the United Kingdom. Up to 40 Marshall Scholars are selected each year for graduate-level study in any field at a UK institution. Scholars are chosen based on academic merit and leadership and ambassadorial potential.
Earlier in the day, Pilmore-Bedford enjoyed a tour of campus that included meetings with Provost Susan Wente and Peabody College Dean Camilla Benbow and stops at the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science and the School of Engineering’s motorsports lab, design studio, concrete canoe and steel bridge in Featheringill Hall.
