The Vanderbilt Woman’s Club invites the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities to the ninth annual ScholarSips, a wine tasting and silent auction benefiting Vanderbilt students.
This year’s event is scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6, in the fourth-floor Community Room of Vanderbilt Central Library. The event will feature Christina Watson and her jazz ensemble, a wine tasting, an hors d’oeuvre buffet and a silent auction to benefit the Ada Bell Stapleton/Blanche Henry Weaver Scholarship Fund.
Wines will be provided by West End Discount Liquors & Wines. Silent auction items include gourmet dinners, concert tickets, gift baskets and local tours. Unique Vanderbilt items include:
- A day with the Vanderbilt University Medical Center LifeFlight team;
- A chance to be a junior PA announcer for a Commodore baseball game or to sound “the Admiral,” the Commodores’ ship horn, at a football game;
- A chance to ride on the football team bus, eat dinner with the team and coach, and spend the night in the team’s hotel;
- Use of the Athletics Department’s suite at a women’s basketball game and a chance to sit in on a pre-game “chalk talk” in the women’s locker room;
- A day with an Art Department pottery professor; and
- A Vanderbilt Opera dress-rehearsal experience at the Blair School of Music.
ScholarSips is open to the public. Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. A portion of the ticket amount is designated as a charitable contribution. Visit the Vanderbilt Woman’s Club website for more information, or download a ticket purchase form here.
Free parking for the evening will be available in the Wesley Place Garage, located at 2043 Scarritt Place, across 21st Avenue South from the library.
