Mayor shares insights with public policy studies class

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean was the guest speaker Sept. 8 for an undergraduate public policy studies class taught by former Mayor Bill Purcell, an adjunct professor of public policy at Vanderbilt.

For the class Cities in the 21st Century, Dean discussed “Governing the City,” described as “the role of the mayor in setting the agenda and getting it done.”

Other guest speakers featured in the class this semester include Jesse Register, director of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools; Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson; and Gaylord Entertainment Chairman and CEO Colin Reed, among others.
