Becker’s Hospital Review has named Vanderbilt University Medical Center among the “100 Hospitals and Health Systems With Great Oncology Programs.”
The list includes hospitals that have received recognition from several reputable ranking agencies, including U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics, the National Cancer Institute, the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, CareChex and the BlueCross BlueShield Association.
Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Tennessee that serves both adult and pediatric patients.
Cancer centers that achieve the NCI recognition must provide a high level of clinical service and engage in translational cancer research.
VICC’s physicians serve more than 6,252 new cancer patients and see more than 151,000 outpatient visitors each year.
CareChex ranked the hospital in the top 15 nationally for cancer care, and U.S. News & World Report has ranked VUMC as the No. 1 hospital for cancer care in Tennessee.
Vanderbilt joins dozens of the best known and most highly regarded medical centers in the country on the Becker’s Hospital Review list.
Becker’s editors note that these hospitals are leading the way in terms of quality patient care, cancer outcomes and research.
