The Vanderbilt Hustler, the university’s student newspaper, has launched vanderbilthustler.com to serve as its official website and online presence. The new URL replaces insidevandy.com, which previously hosted the Hustler’s online content.
InsideVandy, launched in 2006 to serve as the online hub for student media, featured student-produced content in a variety of digital formats–including written, video, audio and photo, among others. The decision to shift the URL and website name came from a desire to match the print newspaper brand with what appears online, Vanderbilt Hustler Editor-in-Chief Tyler Bishop said.
“We hope that merging our print and online brands will allow us to put a greater emphasis on the digital side of today’s media industry and clear any confusion about the Vanderbilt student newspaper brand,” Bishop said.
The Vanderbilt Hustler will continue to work closely with other student media outlets—including Vanderbilt Television and VandyRadio—to serve the campus with news, information and creative content. Print and online simply will now use the same name, which dates back to 1888.
“This is the same newspaper, with the same goal of serving the Vanderbilt community,” Bishop said. “This is an exciting time, and our staff has a lot in store for the coming year. We are truly thrilled to launch vanderbilthustler.com.”
