Fall Faculty Assembly is Aug. 21

Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin will open the Fall Faculty Assembly, followed by remarks by Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos on Thursday, Aug. 21.

Fresh off of winning the College World Series championship, Coach Tim Corbin will open the Fall Faculty Assembly with his presentation “Winning Is (Not) Everything: Reflections of a Baseball and Life Coach.”

The annual assembly is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Student Life Center.

Welcoming remarks will be provided by new Faculty Senate Chair Paul Lim, associate professor of the history of Christianity and religious studies.

Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos will deliver his bi-annual address, which will include an update on the important next steps in the implementation of the university’s Academic Strategic Plan.

As he does each fall, Zeppos will present several of the university’s highest honors to faculty, including the Earl Sutherland Prize for Achievement in Research, the Thomas Jefferson Award and the Chancellor’s Awards for Research. He also will recognize professors celebrating 25 years of service to the university.

A reception will follow at 5:15 p.m.
