Vanderbilt alumni magazine wins national CASE award

Vanderbilt Magazine has received a Silver Award in the 2014 Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s (CASE) Circle of Excellence competition.

The magazine was among only three publications out of 35 entries to be honored in the Magazine Publishing Improvement category. American University’s American magazine and Metropolitan Denver Magazine, published by Metropolitan State University of Denver, also were recognized.

Vanderbilt Magazine is produced by Vanderbilt University News and Communications. GayNelle Doll serves as editor, Phillip Tucker serves as associate editor and production manager, Seth Robertson serves as assistant editor and online content manager, and Bonnie Ertelt serves as Class Notes and arts and culture editor. Vanderbilt Creative Services’ Donna Pritchett serves as art director and designer, and Daniel Dubois is director of photography.

The publication is sent quarterly to an audience of 115,000, most of whom are Vanderbilt alumni. The magazine team works closely with Vanderbilt’s Development and Alumni Relations division to produce each issue.

The Circle of Excellence competition is advancement’s premier international awards program that recognizes the work of CASE members, acknowledging superior accomplishments that have lasting impact, demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and deliver exceptional results. Winning programs epitomize the profession’s best practices, raise standards and contribute to a growing body of knowledge about advancement, CASE officials said.
