Protection of Minors online training now available

The “Protection of Minors 101” module is now available for open enrollment in the Learning Exchange and includes policy, incident reporting, code of conduct, red flag behavior and prevention techniques for the safety and protection of minors.

The Protection of Minors policy establishes protocol for Vanderbilt programs and personnel (faculty, staff, Vanderbilt students and volunteers) who interact with minors under the age of 18. Interaction with minors in Vanderbilt programs and operations requires completion of annual training, a policy adherence agreement, and a background clearance.

Individuals may self-enroll and complete the module. Managers, deans and department heads who oversee personnel may assign the training with Learning Exchange administrator/delegate status.

Please note the following:

  • Completion of the internal “101” course will meet both training and policy agreement requirements for those working or interacting in VU or VUMC programs and operations with minors under 18 years of age.
  • Please allow 20-25 minutes to complete the training.
  • Personnel completing this training will be entered into the Protection of Minors personnel inventory as compliant with the Protection of Minors training and policy agreement requirement for 2014.
  • After completing the “101” course as a prerequisite, subsequent annual refresher training (“102”) will be made available starting in 2015.
