Volunteer for Commencement today

Your Vanderbilt colleagues (l-r) Andy Richter, Sarah Quinn, Kenny Moore, Vickie Latham and Cathey Nelson invite you to join them in making Commencement 2014 a success.

Vanderbilt is gearing up for Commencement 2014, and your help is needed to make the three-day celebration for graduates and their families a success.

Volunteers have three opportunities to participate May 7–9.

THE PARTY – Wednesday, May 7

THE PARTY is an annual dance celebration for graduates and their families at The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons. This year’s PARTY features the dance band Memphis Soul Revue. Volunteers are needed for two shifts: 8–10:15 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.–midnight.   

Volunteers for THE PARTY will receive the following:

  • Dinner the evening of May 7
  • A T-shirt branded with the event logo
  • The opportunity to be a guest at THE PARTY when not volunteering
  • A gift for volunteering

Senior Day – Thursday, May 8

Dr. Regina Benjamin, this year’s Senior Day speaker, was appointed by President Obama to serve a four-year term as the 18th U.S. surgeon general.  She will speak about “Making a Difference.” Volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Volunteers for Senior Day will receive the following:

  • Lunch on May 8
  • A gift for volunteering
  • The opportunity to hear Benjamin speak

Commencement Day – Friday, May 9

Commencement is designed to be a memorable day for graduates and their families. Volunteers are needed from 6:30 a.m. to noon on Alumni Lawn, or at Memorial Gym in the event of severe weather.

Volunteers for Commencement Day will receive the following:

  • A morning snack and lunch on May 9
  • A gift for volunteering
  • A great opportunity to network with others from across campus
  • A vital role in one of the university’s largest and most prestigious events
