Graham Stewart, new associate vice chancellor for alumni relations

Graham Stewart has been named associate vice chancellor for alumni relations at Vanderbilt University.  He comes to the role from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville where he served as associate vice chancellor for alumni relations and executive director of the Arkansas Alumni Association.  As CEO in charge of alumni programs and activities at Arkansas, Stewart served more than 135,000 alumni and 26,000 dues-paying members.

Stewart previously led alumni associations at Ithaca College, the University at Buffalo and Ohio University.  In each of his roles, he actively engaged volunteers, improved outreach and communication to alumni, and collaborated with partners across the campus community.  He also created more efficient operations and increased revenue to alumni relations programs.

Stewart’s first job in higher education was as director of marketing and public relations at the Cornell University Center for Performing Arts.  In this role, he promoted more than 150 events and dramatically increased subscriptions.  After six years with Cornell, Graham was named director of admissions for the Ithaca College School of Music, overseeing all activities related to recruitment, admissions and student financial aid.

In addition to a successful career in higher education, Stewart is a highly accomplished musician.  He was a member of the Grammy-awarding-winning vocal ensemble, The Gregg Smith Singers, has performed multiple operatic musical theatre roles, and is an active jazz trombonist and vocalist.

Stewart received his bachelor of fine arts degree in Music and a master of science in communications, both from Ithaca College.
