Health Plus offers tips for making changes in the new year

(Vanderbilt University)

Most people see the new year as a starting point for changes that they want to make. What types of changes are you hoping to make in order to make next year a healthier year? From a nutrition standpoint, a good place to start is by getting back to the basics.

  • Drink more water and less of anything else.
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables.
  • Eat more grilled and baked foods and less fried foods.
  • Choose whole grains.
  • Cut down on the amount of sweets you eat.
  • Track your food intake.

For a good app to track your food, try MyFitnessPal or Calorie Count.
