For nearly a century, Vanderbilt and its employees have been giving back to the Nashville and Middle Tennessee communities. This engagement has evolved over time from partnering with one federation to supporting hundreds of agencies administered by four federation partners: United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, Community Shares, Community Health Charities and the Nashville Public Education Foundation.
In the past, employees would log in to a portal managed by Vanderbilt during a “campaign” period, select a federation or specific charity to support, and designate payroll deduction or a one-time gift contribution.
In 2013, Vanderbilt will continue to support its federation partners and the great work they do with their charities. Going forward, Vanderbilt has made the decision to step out of the payroll coordination role and connect its employees directly to the federations so that you may donate whenever you want and your gift will go immediately to meet the needs of your charity of choice.
The federations express their gratitude each year for the support from Vanderbilt employees, as they rely on contributions to continue their important services. In order to support a charity or federation in 2014, simply log into Vanderbilt Gives, where you may review the federation sites, the agencies they support and make a donation directly to the charity of your choosing.
By eliminating the Vanderbilt portal, we are connecting you, the contributor, directly to the organizations and agencies that will benefit from your support. While the payroll deduction option will no longer be available, the federations have various ways for donors to make payments one time or throughout the year.
A new addition to the Vanderbilt Gives website is information about volunteering. A mini-survey conducted during the 2012 campaign showed that many employees are interested in contributing not only your money, but also your time to benefit local charities. If volunteering interests you, please visit the Hands On Nashville website to learn about volunteer opportunities.
