‘Friendship Families’ sought to befriend international fellows

The 2012-13 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellows at Vanderbilt. (Vanderbilt University)
The 2012-13 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellows at Vanderbilt. (Vanderbilt University)

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings accomplished mid–career professionals from developing nations and emerging democracies to the United States for an academic year to study, gain related professional experience and foster cultural exchange.

Peabody College has welcomed a new cohort of Humphrey Fellows this fall from China, Guinea, Kosovo, Mauritania, Myanmar, Pakistan, Lebanon, Russia and Swaziland. “Friendship Families” are being sought to provide an extended social and collegial network for them, especially during the first few months on campus.

The mission of Friendship Families is to assist the fellows in various aspects of life in the United States and in Nashville, and to provide an opportunity for cultural exchange.

The Friendship Families will also be invited to participate in various social and cultural events on and off campus with the Fellows.

The program provides a basis for lasting ties between United States citizens and the Fellows and strengthens the global exchange of knowledge and experience.

Please note that this is not a live-in program. Call today for more information on how you can help these Fellows feel at home.
