The 25th Annual Southern Festival of Books will be held Oct. 11-13 at downtown Nashville’s Legislative Plaza. The event will feature several Vanderbilt faculty, staff, students and alumni, including:
- Stephen Doster, editor for the Institute of Chemical Biology, whose current book is Rose Bush;
- Joel Harrington, professor of history, whose current book is The Faithful Executioner: Life and Death, Honor and Shame in the Turbulent 16th Century;
- Rick Hilles, assistant professor of English, whose current book is A Map of the Lost World;
- Lorraine Lopez, associate professor of English, whose current books is Homicide Survivors Picnic and Other Stories;
- Kenneth MacLeish, assistant professor of medicine, health and society and assistant professor of anthropology, whose current book is Making War at Fort Hood: Life and Uncertainty in a Military Community;
- Jon Meacham, Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Department of Political Science, whose current book is Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power;
- Daniel Sharfstein, professor of law, whose writing is featured in the current book The New York Times: Disunion: Modern Historians Revisit and Reconsider the Civil War from Lincoln’s Election to the Emancipation Proclamation;
- Sharon Yates, program director of Teaching and Learning in Urban Schools at Vanderbilt; and
- Kat Zhang, Vanderbilt student, whose current book is Once We Were.
