Lee Ann Golper, Ph.D., professor of Hearing and Speech Sciences, is receiving Honors of the Association at the annual convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in Chicago in November.
Honors of the Association is the highest award given by ASHA and is a public recognition of the recipient’s contributions to the field of speech, language and hearing over the course of their career.
The honors committee’s selection was based on Golper’s years of sustained leadership, scholarship, teaching and service activities within the profession, including development of evidence-based practice guidelines for treatment with neurogenic communication disorders, raising the standards for practitioner preparation and practices in medical speech-language pathology and advancing patient-relevant outcomes measurement in speech-language pathology.
Golper’s contributions to the professional literature include four textbooks: “Medical Speech-Language Pathology: Desk Reference (third edition),” “Professional Issues in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (third edition),” “Business Matters: A Guide for Speech-Language Pathologists,” and “Outcomes in Speech-Language Pathology (second edition).”
At Vanderbilt, Golper serves as the director of education for the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), director of the SLP Clinical Division and director of Quality for the department.
