Vanderbilt and Children’s Hospital are among 45 Middle Tennessee employers named as Top Workplaces by the Tennessean. The winning companies were chosen by WorkplaceDynamics, which conducts regional Top Workplace programs across the country, based solely on the results of employee surveys.

The Tennessean will publish the complete list of selected companies on June 30.

“We are honored that Vanderbilt University and our Children’s Hospital were both named as Middle Tennessee’s Top Workplaces. This award reflects what we see every day – our faculty and staff are committed to their work and to each other in delivering excellence in education, patient care, research and service,” said Traci Nordberg, associate vice chancellor and chief human resource officer. “While we want to take a minute to celebrate this success, we know to maintain this position we need to continue to work to strengthen our culture to allow each of us to do our best work in the best workplace environment.”

The Top Workplaces program began in 2006, established on the belief that the most successful organizations are the ones in which employees believe in the organization’s mission. This is the first year for the program in Middle Tennessee. Nearly 5,000 faculty and staff from across the university and medical center were randomly selected to participate in the survey that assessed organizational values, leadership, culture as well as day-to-day factors such as pay, training, and work/life balance.
