Two from VUMC help lead national informatics group

Vanderbilt’s Department of Biomedical Informatics remains exceptionally well represented on the nine-member executive committee of the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI).

Cynthia Gadd, Ph.D., professor and vice chair for educational affairs in the department, is midway through a two-year term on the committee, and Kevin Johnson, M.D., Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair and chair of the department, was recently re-elected to a second consecutive two-year term.

The ACMI is a college of elected fellows from the United States and abroad who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of medical informatics.

It is the central body for a community of scholars and practitioners who are committed to advancing the informatics field. Today, there are nearly 300 fellows, with 10 to 20 new fellows elected each year.
