Cancer patients undergoing some forms of chemotherapy often lose some or all of their hair, as well as eyebrows and eyelashes.
To help patients cope with these treatment-related side effects, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center will host a free seminar led by experts in hair and skin issues. “Look Good…Feel Better,” a program sponsored by the American Cancer Society, will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Vanderbilt Breast Center, Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks, 719 Thompson Lane.
The free makeover class is designed specifically for patients who are currently undergoing therapy, no matter where they are receiving their treatment.
During the class, participants learn how to apply makeup to give the impression of eyelashes and how to draw their own eyebrows.
They will receive information about techniques to counteract skin issues and will have a chance to devise head coverings using practical and affordable gear.
In addition to hair and makeup tips, participants will be treated to a light, healthy lunch.
Each patient is provided a free supply of brand-name cosmetics matched to their skin tone and other products used to facilitate the makeover process.
Seating for the Feb. 20 class is limited.
