Faris Al-Jashami, left, his wife, Claudia, and son, Moohamed, came to the Shade Tree Clinic last week to thank the medical students and medical legal partnership volunteer who helped to reunite them. The family visited just hours after Claudia and Moohamed returned to Nashville by bus from Mexico. Claudia had been detained there while trying to secure a visa, and the family was told she might not be able to return for as long as 10 years. Chay Sengkhounmany, a volunteer lawyer with the Legal Aid Society, met Faris at the clinic and heard his story.  With the help of the clinic, she secured the proper paperwork to allow the mother and son to return within just a few weeks.
