Mayor Dean’s ‘Walk 100 Miles’ challenge comes to Vanderbilt

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean will help lead a two-mile walk around the Vanderbilt University campus Thursday, Dec. 6, as part of the Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor initiative in 2012.

The one-hour walk will begin at noon. Dean will be joined by Beth Fortune, vice chancellor for public affairs; Jerry Fife, vice chancellor for administration; and Metro Council member Burkley Allen for the walk that begins and ends at 2007 Terrace Place.

The public is invited to complete the entire walk or join in anywhere along the route. Free water and fresh fruit will be available to all participants at the end of the walk. In addition, food trucks have been invited to attend for those wanting to purchase additional food or beverages.

Free parking will be available in the Terrace Place Garage for all Vanderbilt faculty and staff and other participants.
