Child and Family Center manager named president of statewide organization

Rhonda Laird, manager of the Vanderbilt Child and Family Center’s Edgehill site, has been elected president of the Tennessee Association for the Education of Young Children. TAEYC has more than 2,000 members across the state, including teachers, administrators, family care providers, college personnel and educational specialists. There are 12 local TAEYC affiliates.

The organization provides members with professional development opportunities and advocates for best practices in the care, development and education of all of Tennessee’s young children. TAEYC is celebrating 58 years of serving children, families, educators and the community.

Laird previously has served as president of the Nashville-area affiliate of TAEYC and as public policy co-chair. In 2010, she received the TAEYC Outstanding Member Award for her advocacy work as well as her involvement with professional development opportunities for teachers and directors in early childhood education programs.
