Raise awareness, win prizes at heart walk

… that one in three people will die from heart disease?

… that every 45 seconds, someone in America has a stroke – a total of more than three-quarters of a million people each year?

… that more than 60 percent of adults in Tennessee are considered overweight?

… that Vanderbilt currently receives more than $6.6 million in active grants from the America Heart Association?

Did you know that you can raise awareness – and money – to combat heart disease at this year’s Nashville Heart Walk, to be held on the Vanderbilt campus?

The Nashville Heart Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6. Last year, Vanderbilt raised $254,000 to support the cause and was one of the top money-raising organizations in the country for the American Heart Association.

This year, participating faculty and staff can improve their health and win big prizes. Drawings for a treadmill, a hot air balloon ride, an iPad, Nashville Predators memorabilia and more will be held for faculty and staff who meet the following criteria:

Prize drawings will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
