Community Research Partners event will explore Affordable Care Act

Community Research Partners will host a public event to discuss “Participation in the Affordable Care Act: Critical Choices for Tennessee” from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7. The event will be held at Kayne Avenue Baptist Church, 1025 12th Ave. S.

Tony Garr, Enroll America’s state assistance consultant for Tennessee, and Gordon Bonnyman of the Tennessee Justice Center are scheduled to present. They will lead discussions about critical issues in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act that require state collaboration, such as:

  • Expansion of Medicaid to adults earning less than 138 percent of FPL;
  • Administration of health insurance exchanges;
  • Developing an outreach and enrollment effort;
  • Determining a basic benefit package to be covered by plans listed on exchanges – and how each choice will potentially impact coverage for Tennesseans.

Coffee and a light breakfast will be served.
