‘Health literacy and communication to improve diabetes care’ subject of May 4 lecture

On May 4, the Community Research Partners meeting will convene, focusing on the importance of health literacy and health communication in patient health, with a particular focus on the role of health literacy in diabetes and obesity.

The presentation will include the discussion of a current study that is a partnership between the Tennessee Department of Health, Vanderbilt and Meharry to improve diabetes care for patients in middle Tennessee. Current efforts, and approaches to address challenges to real world implementation and dissemination will be discussed. Presenters include Vanderbilt physician Russell Rothman and Laura Harris of Mid-Cumberland Regional Health Department.

The event will take place 8:30-10 a.m. at the 2525 Building, 2525 West End Avenue, in the sixth floor board room.
