‘The Pecking Order’ on display at Sarratt Gallery through May 14

“Lassitude” (2011) by Karen Bondarchuk

Inspired by John Marluff’s book In the Company of Crows and Ravens, Michigan-based sculptor Karen Bondarchuk is taken with the notion that crows and humans engage in a mutualism of existence, wherein each affects the behavior of the other. Bondarchuk’s sculpture studies this “cultural co-evolution” and remarkable mutual premise between humans and crows.

The Pecking Order, an exhibition of Bondarchuk’s work, is currently on display at Sarratt Gallery through May 14. The exhibition includes drawings and sculpture created from scavenged tire scraps. A gallery talk will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 29, with a reception following at 6:30 p.m.
