The Vanderbilt Woman’s Club will present the Sixth Annual Scholar-Sips from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Vanderbilt’s Student Life Center. The event, which features a wine tasting, hors d’oeuvre buffet and silent auction, benefits the Ada Bell Stapleton/Blanche Henry Weaver Scholarship Fund.
Wines will be provided by Village Wines, and silent auction items include concert tickets, gourmet dinners, food-and-beverage gift baskets and spa packages. Other featured items are unique to Vanderbilt, including a day with the Vanderbilt LifeFlight team and the opportunity to ride along in the most state-of-the-art aircraft in the air medical industry.
Vanderbilt athletics fans can bid on a tour of the Vanderbilt football facilities conducted by head coach James Franklin, including personal time with him and the 2012 Commodore football team. The true Commodore fan will want to bid on the opportunity to sound “The Admiral,” the Vanderbilt Commodore ship horn, for each Vanderbilt touchdown scored during a fall 2012 home football game. Also up for bid is the chance for two to ride on the team’s bus, eat dinner with the team and coach, spend the night in the team’s hotel and watch pre-game warm-ups from the sidelines.
Complete details on all of the silent auction items can be found here.
Scholar-Sips is open to the public. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. Visit the Vanderbilt Woman’s Club website to download a ticket purchase form. Free parking for the event is available in the parking garage at 25th and Highland avenues.
