Lydia Howarth and Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos joined Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, community leaders, Nashville citizens and area students in a march from Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church to the Tennessee State University campus in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day Jan. 16.

The march was a highlight of a host of commemorative events held throughout Nashville and on the Vanderbilt campus. Other Vanderbilt events included film screenings, lectures, a weekend of service and a keynote address by U.S. Congressman John Lewis.
