Vanderbilt art professor Marilyn Murphy has a joint exhibition with sculptor Bob Trotman at the Huntsville Museum of Art in Alabama.
Connections: Marilyn Murphy and Bob Trotman will be on display until March 18, 2012.
The exhibition includes 28 of her colored pencil and graphite drawings borrowed from collections around the country.
This is the first in a new series of recurring exhibitions at the museum focused on contemporary art with shared sensibilities. Connections: Marilyn Murphy/Bob Trotman features two critically acclaimed artists who, although working with different media, both convey a sense of dislocation and loss in their works. Their art pieces focus on retro-attired figures who are caught in unusual circumstances.
Murphy’s drawings also are currently on display in the exhibition Without Borders at Cumberland Gallery in Nashville through Feb. 11.
