The fourth annual DigitalVU month is under way with a great lineup of speakers and events. The month of workshops, open houses, lectures, discussions and more is designed to share information on all things online, from social media, to video, to programming topics and more with members of the Vanderbilt community.

- Oct. 10: OmniUpdate Training
Training for current Omni users by Lacy Tite, University Web Communications. Also open to those interested in learning more about OmniUpdate, one of the university’s two supported Web content management systems.
1 – 2 p.m., 10th Floor Baker Building Conference Room - Oct. 11: Introduction to my.vanderbilt.edu
Learn about my.vanderbilt.edu, the university’s new service that enables any faculty member, student or staff member to create their own website, using WordPress, to support their teaching, research, work or study. Lacy Tite, University Web Communications, and Chris Marshall, Inforamtion Technology Services, will lead this session.
12 – 1 p.m., Presentation Room, Undergraduate Admissions Building - Oct. 12: Introduction to EndNote
EndNote is citation management software that can be used to store references and easily add them as citations and bibliographies to documents. This hands-on workshop will provide a demonstration of the EndNote software and its basic features. Presented by the Jean and Alexander Heard Library.
2:30 – 4 p.m., Room 418A Jean and Alexander Heard Central Library - Oct. 13: Web Writing for the Medical Realm
Many people get their first impression of VUMC from our websites. This conversation will explain how to communicate medical information that can be very complex in ways that intrigue – not overwhelm – our online visitors. Will Ayers, Strategic Marketing, will lead this session.
11:30 a.m. – 12:25 p.m. Eskind Library, Board Room, 3rd Floor - Oct. 13: Data Center Tour
Ever wonder what a data center looks like? Is the Google Search Appliance box really yellow? This is your chance to find out. Limited to six people.
4 p.m., Hill Center. - Oct. 14: Finding and Evaluating Useful Websites
Finding quality web sites for classroom use can be challenging. Come learn where some of the best web sites are for teachers to find lesson plans, online tools and reusable learning objects. The session will also cover criteria to consider before incorporating online sources into lesson plans. Lee Ann Lannom, librarian and liaison to the Teaching and Learning Department, will lead this session. This workshop is applicable to the Teaching and Learning technology requirement. Presented by the Jean and Alexander Heard Library.
2:30 – 4 p.m., Room 304 Peabody Library Learning Commons
