Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff are invited to an open house Thursday, Nov. 3, at the new Barnes & Noble at Vanderbilt – a week before the bookstore’s official grand opening.

During the open house, which will last from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Vanderbilt community members who show their Vanderbilt i.d. will receive 50 percent off on items at the store’s café and be able to take advantage of merchandise promotions – 25 percent off hats and buy one, get 50 percent off on Champion apparel. A limited number of NOOK and NOOK Color eReaders also will be given away throughout the day.

Barnes & Noble at Vanderbilt, located at 2525 West End, will offer items traditionally found at other Barnes & Noble retail outlets, including a section for children’s books and a café, in addition to Vanderbilt textbooks, course materials, apparel and other university items. The larger store, extended hours of operation and access to a 200-space garage and 100 surface parking spaces at the new location also make possible the scheduling of authors’ nights and other special programming for the university and Nashville communities.

The official grand opening for the store will be Friday, Nov. 11.
