Pavlović to discuss ‘Projected Histories’ at Frist Sept. 1

Vesna Pavlović (Steve Green/Vanderbilt)

Vesna Pavlović, assistant professor of art at Vanderbilt, will discuss some of her work presented in Projected Histories, an exhibition on view in the Gordon Contemporary Artists Project Gallery at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts through Sept. 11.

The free talk is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. and is part of the museum’s Artist’s Perspective series.

Projected Histories includes photographs taken in Pavlović’s native Serbia and in the United States during the last two decades. Focusing on architecture as well as sites and events of cultural significance, these works examine the power of photography to project both self images and national ideologies, shaping the perception of history as an expression of the dreams and aspirations of others.
