Milner wins multicultural research award

Richard Milner, Betts Associate Professor of Education and Human Development

Vanderbilt University education scholar Richard Milner has won the 2010 Carl A. Grant Multicultural Research Award from the National Association for Multicultural Education.

The award was presented at the 20th annual international NAME conference in Las Vegas on Nov. 5.

Milner is Betts Associate Professor of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt’s Peabody College of Education and Human Development. His research, teaching and policy interests are urban education, teacher education and race and equity in society and education. He has published more than 50 journal articles and book chapters and four books, including “Stay Where You Are, But Don’t Stay There: Understanding Diversity, Opportunity Gaps, and Teaching in Today’s Classrooms,” published this month by Harvard Education Press.
