MEDIA ADVISORY: Portion of 21st Ave. to be closed on Oct. 16

On Saturday, Oct 16, 21st Ave. S. will be closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic between Scarritt Place and Edgehill Ave. between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Emergency vehicles will be exempt from the closure.

Vanderbilt University will be doing helicopter air lifts of air conditioning equipment for the Vanderbilt Library from the University School of Nashville (USN) parking lot and the sports field between USN and Wesley Place garage.  The FAA requires the road closure for safety purposes.

Vanderbilt University police officers will be stationed at Scarritt Place and Edgehill Avenue and there will be barricades, traffic cones and signs to re-direct traffic. Vehicles will be directed to an alternative route around the block to 19th Ave. S., and then back to 21st. Ave. S. Foot traffic will be diverted to either 19th Ave. South, or across the foot bridge and behind the library on the Vanderbilt campus side and back to the roadway past the library.
