Vanderbilt University encourages active journalists to apply to attend its 2010 media fellowship “Securing Our Future: Energy Solutions and the Environment,” May 19-21, 2010 in Nashville, Tenn.
To some, the idea of being “green” is no more than a cliché and the threats of global warming or depleting natural resources are simply that, empty threats. But scientists are continually finding new evidence proving that a real energy crisis is in our near future.
These environmental and energy concerns are not only affecting the planet, they are going to affect future public policies as well as global and national economies. Now the big question is, where are we going to get our energy and how will today’s decisions impact the future?
Scientists, researchers and policy makers from Vanderbilt; Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Department of Energy’s largest science and energy laboratory; the Tennessee Valley Authority, the nation’s largest power company, and more will discuss and debate issues ranging from climate change to nuclear power and storage.
This fellowship is available to a limited number of print, broadcast and experienced freelance journalists. Vanderbilt will cover the cost of lodging and some meals. The participant or his or her employer is responsible for travel expenses and salary during the fellowship.
