Paintings by 11 artists “exploring the use of color, the development of space” make up The Painters Eye exhibit, which opens with a reception Feb. 18 at Vanderbilt University.
“This painting exhibition is rich with color, form and the artist’s eye,” said show curators Ron Porter and Marilyn Murphy, both Vanderbilt faculty members. “All the artists offer something that’s delightfully unexpected.”
Artists represented in the show are John Baeder, Jane Braddock, Barry Buxkamper, Dane Carder, Virginia Derryberry, Samuel Dunson, Jr., Robert Durham, Leonard Koscianski, James Lavadour, Phurba Namgay and Andrew Winn.
The Painter’s Eye exhibit will be on display from Feb. 18 to March 12 in the Space 204 gallery at the E. Bronson Ingram Studio Art Center on the Vanderbilt campus at 1204 25th Ave. S. [map]
The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is free and open to the public.
An opening reception for The Painter’s Eye exhibit will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 at Space 204. This event is also free and open to the public.
