Chicago’s famed Second City comes to Vanderbilt University March 20

Members of Chicago’s famed comedy theatre, The Second City, will do two shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Vanderbilt University’s Sarratt Cinema in the Sarratt Student Center.

The shows will feature comedy stars in the making who will perform some of the best sketches, songs and improvisations from The Second City’s more than 45-year history. The event is sponsored by the VenUe, which is a part of the Vanderbilt Programming Board, a student-run board that coordinates campus events.

Founded in Chicago in 1959, The Second City has become the premier training ground for the comedy world’s best and brightest. Its list of alumni includes Mike Nichols, Elaine May, Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Robert Klein, Peter Boyle, Harold Ramis, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, George Wendt, Martin Short, John Candy, Bonnie Hunt, Tim Meadows, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Horatio Sanz, Ryan Stiles and countless others.

Tickets are available now and can be purchased with cash or check with no service fees included only at the Sarratt Box Office on the Vanderbilt campus. Tickets for Vanderbilt students are free. Tickets for Vanderbilt faculty and staff and the general public are $15. For event information, call 615-343-3361.
